Hi, I'm Jen, founder and artist at Dead Moths Society, thank you for taking the time to visit my website.
Dead Moths Society came about after I made two bell jars for my sons Birthday. He has been an avid bug collector for a few years, I made him two glass jars filled with dried moss and flowers from our garden and ethically sourced moths.
I received so many compliments on them it gave me the courage to take a leap into the self-employed business world and turn my passion for art, flowers and nature into a business.
Mr artistry include ethically sourced moths, butterflies and skulls. Moss and flowers are homegrown and harvested naturally and at the right time, so no harm will come to the creatures that live in our garden, and depend on the flowers for survival.
I have always loved old vintage dolls, rescuing those that would otherwise go to landfill, repurposing them to live again.
Our flowers are home-grown, harvested and air dried (round the top of our downstairs bath!), sprayed after two weeks with a sealant so they hold their shape and structure.
Our front garden is full of moss, as it grows over the stone we harvest the moss so that we do not disturb anything in the soil.
Our moss is dried for two weeks (in a chest of drawers!) before using it in any of our creations to make sure it is completely free of any moisture.
After loosing two of our beloved family pets due to old age, we were at a loss with how, when where to scatter their ashes. Too painful to say goodbye completely, I came up with the idea of preserving some of their ashes in a beautiful glass jar, surrounded by dried flowers from our garden. The glass bell jars now have pride of place on our fireplace, stunning decorative pieces that are a constant reminder that our much loved and missed pets are still with us.
A lost family member or pet, our beautifully curated bell jars can help you through this difficult time.
Treasured possessions, items that hold a special reminder to your loved one, can be included in your commemorative bell jar as well as a small amount ashes where your lost one has been cremated.
Experience the unique allure of Dead Moths Society's creations and transform your living space into a realm of dark elegance. At Dead Moths Society, we are dedicated to crafting artistic statements that cater to the bold and unique. Our collection of unique home décor, taxidermy art, and memorial pieces reflects our appreciation for the beauty in life, death, and nature.
Dare to be different.
